The Founders

YumMate.app was born from a simple question: why does a perfectly crafted dish lose all its magic the moment you photograph it with a phone? Thomas and Christian Fenkart — brothers, food lovers, and a filmmaker-engineer duo — set out to fix that.

Thomas Fenkart — Co-Founder & CEO

Thomas brings 25 years of commercial filmmaking to YumMate.app. He has directed, edited, and color-graded hundreds of B2B commercials — from the linear tape era through digital post-production to today's generative AI workflows. He knows exactly what makes food look appetizing on screen: the light, the steam, the slow motion that triggers appetite. That craft knowledge is now baked into every AI model behind YumMate.app. When he's not refining video algorithms, he's testing the results the old-fashioned way — by eating his way through Austria's restaurant scene.

Christian Fenkart — Co-Founder & CTO

Christian is the engineer who turns creative vision into production-grade software. Fluent in TypeScript and Python, he built the entire YumMate.app platform from the ground up — real-time collaboration, GPU-accelerated rendering pipelines, Supabase backend, Stripe billing, and the REST API that connects YumMate with AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT. His philosophy: if a restaurant owner can't figure it out in under a minute, it's not simple enough. He shares Thomas's obsession with good food — and insists that the best debugging sessions happen over a proper Austrian Schnitzel.

Why Food?

Over the years, Thomas and Christian have watched restaurants struggle with the same problem: great dishes, but photos that don't do them justice. A €30 Wiener Schnitzel that just doesn't look on Instagram the way it does on the plate. A perfectly composed dessert that photographs flat and lifeless. The tools existed for big chains with big budgets, but the neighborhood bistro, the family-run Gasthaus, the food truck at the Wochenmarkt — they were left behind. YumMate.app exists to change that.
