Daily special photo tool — fast enough for a real kitchen

The special is ready at 11:30. The post should be live before noon.

Daily and weekly specials change too fast for a photographer and too often for stock photos. YumMate.app fits the timeline: photograph the special, upload, get back a clean photo plus optional 5-second clip for social, screens and menu.

Why most daily specials never get visual content

  • By the time the kitchen finishes plating, there's no time for a separate shoot.
  • The phone photo from the pass looks dim, yellow and rushed.
  • Designing a Canva post takes longer than cooking the dish.
  • Specials change daily. Stock photos can't keep up. Generic templates feel obvious.
  • The customer who would have ordered it never finds out.

Daily special workflow in four steps

  1. Plate the special. Take one photo.. Standard service plating. One phone photo at the pass. Total time: 30 seconds.
  2. Drop into YumMate.app. Drag the file in, add the dish name. Optional price and short description for overlays.
  3. Generate three formats and a clip. 1:1 for the feed, 9:16 for stories, 16:9 for the MenuBoard. Optional 5-second video for Reels and the screen above the counter.
  4. Push to social, screen and QR menu. Download for Instagram, push directly to your MenuBoard playlist, update the QR menu — all from one upload.

Daily special use cases

  • Lunch special before noon. Plate at 11:00, photo at 11:05, post live before the first guest sits down.
  • Sunday brunch rotation. Different special every Sunday. Quick visual content for the brunch crowd that books in the morning.
  • Chef's evening special. Front-of-house can take the photo when the special hits the pass. Live on the MenuBoard during dinner service.
  • Dessert of the day. Pastry section can run their own micro-content workflow without involving anyone else.
  • Drink of the week / cocktail special. Bar can post their own visual content without depending on the kitchen team.
  • Seasonal limited-time offers. Pumpkin spice in October, asparagus in May. Fast visual production for time-limited dishes.

The special on the screen is the special on the table

Daily specials especially need honest visuals — guests order them based on what's happening today, not last month's brand book. YumMate.app keeps the visual content tied to the actual plate. The dish on the post is the dish on the pass.

Built for the daily-special rhythm

  • Fast turnaround. Generation time fits between plating and lunch service.
  • Three formats from one photo. 1:1, 9:16, 16:9 — same dish, every channel.
  • Optional 5-second hero video. Motion content for Reels, TikTok and counter screens.
  • Direct MenuBoard push. Add today's special to the live screen playlist without download/re-upload.
  • Quick re-generation. If the first version doesn't fit, regenerate without burning a credit on the same dish.
  • Gallery for archive. Every special you ever photographed stays in the gallery for repeat days and seasonal returns.

Daily special workflow questions

How fast is the workflow really?
From phone photo to download is typically a few minutes. The longest part is choosing the format and style. Most operators run the workflow during the 10-15 minutes between plating the first special and the first guest.
Can multiple staff members run the workflow?
Yes. One account, multiple uploads. Bar can do drinks, kitchen can do mains, pastry can do desserts — all into the same gallery.
Does the special show up on the MenuBoard automatically?
After you add it to the playlist, yes — live update without restarting the screen. The default workflow is opt-in: you decide whether each generated asset goes to the playlist.
What if the special is just an off-menu plate today?
Same workflow. The system doesn't require the dish to be on a permanent menu — it just needs a photo and a name.
Can I tag the price overlay?
Yes. Price input is optional. When provided, it's available as a metadata field for QR menu integrations and as a visual overlay on supported templates.
How many specials per month can I produce?
Each generated dish uses one credit. Breakfast plan covers 8/month, Daily Menu 18, Gourmet 35. For a daily-changing special concept, Daily Menu or Gourmet fits best.
